California shellfish & seaweed · public pages

Privacy Policy

Effective October 30, 2026

Permit Reef is a public guide to the California permitting route for shellfish and seaweed farming. This page explains what information the site collects, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.

Who is responsible

Permit Reef is run by Brackish & Co. You can reach us at jules@brackishco.org.

What we collect when you browse

When you open a page, we record the page address, the site that sent you, your browser type, and a random number saved in your browser so we can count return visits. If you are signed in, we also record your account number. We use this only to see which pages help people and to keep the site working.

What you choose to send us

If you request access, we keep your name, email, and what you write in the form. If you send feedback, we keep your message and any file you attach. If you sign in with a course email, we check only whether that email is enrolled. We do not receive grades, progress, notes, or payment details from the course.

What stays on your device

Answers you give in My Route are saved in your own browser. We never receive them. Clearing your browser removes them.

What we do not do

We do not sell your information. We do not share it for advertising. We do not use third party tracking or ad tools.

Who else handles it

Our hosting and database providers store information for us so the site can run. They may not use it for their own purposes.

How long we keep it

Access requests and feedback: [period not yet set]. Page visit records: [period not yet set]. Account details: until you ask us to delete your account.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct, or delete what we hold about you by writing to jules@brackishco.org. California residents have these rights under state law, and we offer them to everyone. We will not treat you differently for asking.

Children

The site is meant for adults and college students. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Security

Private areas require an invitation and sign in. Access is checked on our servers, not only in your browser. No system is perfect, and we will tell affected people if a breach puts their information at risk.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.

The public chart is compiled from published agency pages and documents. Campaign pages describe proposals supplied by Jules Marsh and Brackish & Co. Automatic source-link checks run weekly and test whether a page answers, not whether its content is correct. Entry stamps show their own check dates. Corrections are reviewed before the chart is changed.
