What Permit Reef is

Permit Reef charts the public permitting route for California shellfish and seaweed farming and gathers what agencies have published. It files nothing, gives no legal advice, and does not speak for any agency. The agency notice remains the legal record. Always confirm details with the agency before you act.

Accuracy

We show where each item comes from and when it was last checked. Costs and timelines may be estimates, and they are labeled when they are. Things can change after our last check.

Using the public pages

You may read, print, share, and teach from the public pages, including the route summary and the public data feed, as long as you name Permit Reef as the source and do not suggest that Permit Reef or any agency endorses your work.

Access is by invitation only. Please keep what you see there private, do not share your sign in, and do not try to reach areas you were not invited to. We may remove access at any time.

The public chart is compiled from published agency pages and documents. Campaign pages describe proposals supplied by Jules Marsh and Brackish & Co. Automatic source-link checks run weekly and test whether a page answers, not whether its content is correct. Entry stamps show their own check dates. Corrections are reviewed before the chart is changed.
